Faster Hair Growth in Five Simple Steps

In general, it is important for those experiencing hair loss to do their homework when choosing the appropriate hair loss treatment or product. Not all products are made equal, so be sure to do a little background research so that you don't waste your money on ineffective hair growth products. There are a great many myths about male hair loss. For men who are experiencing this condition, it is best to become informed about the real causes so that proven and effective treatments can be applied.

First of all, if you're a male experiencing hair loss, you are in good company. It is estimated that about 50-80% of all Caucasian men experience hair thinning. Asian males have about a 40% chance of losing hair, and black males, though least likely, are also not immune. In other words, men with thinning hair are in the majority. You are not alone.

Now the question arises, what causes hair to fall? The most common type of hair loss in men is called male pattern baldness or Androgentic Alopecia, to be exact. It occurs either at the front hair line or the crown of the head. A hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the main culprit. When produced in excess, it binds to hair follicles and stops the flow of the blood to the hair follicles. Excess of dihydrotestosterone smothers the hair follicles to a point where the follicle narrows and the hair dies over a period of time. Androgentic Alopecia is responsible for more than 85% of hair loss cases in men, rest 15% are due to other reasons like lack of sleep, bad eating habits, stress, hair coloring, smoking, excessive use of gels etc.

Are you worried that your helmet or hat may contribute to your hair loss? Don't be. Head gear, as a contributor to hair loss, is again a myth. Men experience hair loss because they have inherited a trait. It's that simple. One prevalent myth is that men inherit baldness tendencies through mom, but actually the trait is inherited from both mom and dad. If you want to see what your head may look like in the future, go take a look at your dad and probably his dad. It won't hurt to check out mom's hair lineage as well.
